Recap

On October 10, 2026, Oklahoma defeated Texas 27-24 at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas in the 122nd Red River Rivalry meeting. Tate Sandell's 47-yard field goal on the final play capped a frantic closing sequence after the Sooners had leaned on special teams and defense for much of the afternoon.

Dakoda Fields recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for a touchdown, and Peyton Bowen returned an interception 42 yards for another score as Oklahoma finished with only 238 total yards. Lloyd Avant added a 2-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter after a defensive pass interference penalty extended the drive.

Arch Manning passed for 260 yards and three touchdowns for Texas but threw two interceptions, including one to Courtland Guillory with 19 seconds left. John Mateer then completed passes of 13 and 20 yards to Isaiah Sategna, both upheld on replay, to set up Sandell's winner. Gianni Spetic missed a 53-yard field goal with 1:55 remaining for the Longhorns. Oklahoma improved to 3-2 and handed the nation's top-ranked team its first loss.
