The CFL featured two games in Week 17. The Calgary Stampeders outscored the Ottawa RedBlacks 45-31, while the Edmonton Elks edged out the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 37-35.

College football had a busy schedule with twenty-eight games decided. No. 1 Texas outlasted No. 14 Tennessee 20-17 in Knoxville as Simmons notched five sacks. Jeremiah Smith tied an Ohio State record with four touchdown catches as the No. 7 Buckeyes rolled over Illinois 42-19. Romaine had two quick pick-6s for No. 11 Texas Tech in a 49-14 win, and Wake Forest took down No. 16 Louisville 30-27 with a late field goal.

Other notable results included Baylor holding off Colorado 23-13, Pittsburgh shutting out Bucknell 59-0, and Kentucky racking up 386 rushing yards to defeat South Alabama 45-21. No. 3 Notre Dame routed rival Purdue 49-10, while No. 2 Georgia dominated Oklahoma 41-13 thanks to a defensive touchdown. No. 21 Florida ran past No. 4 Ole Miss 52-28, and Iowa drove for a last-play touchdown to beat Michigan 20-19.
