NFC East Makes NFL History: Four Teams, Zero Wins in Week 5

Dallas and Philadelphia lost, and the Giants and Commanders tied, so the division finished the week 0–2–2.

The NFC East finished Week 5 of the 2026 season without a win. Four teams played, two of them against each other, and nobody left with a victory.

The Dallas Cowboys opened the week with a 24–16 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday night. The Philadelphia Eagles followed with a 19–17 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday in London. The New York Giants and the Washington Commanders then played to a 27–27 tie in overtime.

That is two losses and one tie. The division’s combined record for the week is 0–2–2.

How often this happens

CBS Sports Research counts this as the fourth time since the 2002 realignment that every team in a division went winless in a week that included a game inside the division. A game inside the division has to end in a tie for that to be possible. Otherwise the winner would leave with a win.

The same season already produced a different kind of winless week. In Week 1, all four NFC South teams lost, and that week finished 0–4. Those four clubs were not playing each other. Week 5 is the stranger result, because two NFC East teams shared a field and neither of them won.

After the week, the Giants are 3–1–1, the Eagles and Cowboys are 2–3, and the Commanders are 1–3–1.
