The Tampa Bay Buccaneers scored 17 points in the third quarter and beat the Dallas Cowboys 24-16 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Thursday night. Bucky Irving ran for 165 yards on 21 carries and scored twice, including a 72-yard run that set up the go-ahead touchdown. Undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels completed 19 of 25 passes for 189 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions in his second start while Baker Mayfield recovers from a dislocated thumb. Tampa Bay piled up 241 yards rushing and improved to 1-4. Dak Prescott was 24 of 42 for 316 yards with two interceptions as Dallas fell to 2-3.
Isaac Brown ran for a career-high 235 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries as Louisville rallied to beat Florida State 44-20 on Friday night at L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium. Brown's 97-yard touchdown run on the first play after a fourth-down stop at the Cardinals 3 turned a 14-0 deficit into momentum, and Louisville scored 35 straight points. The Cardinals finished with 537 yards of offense, including 397 on the ground, and improved to 3-3 and 2-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Ashton Daniels passed for 209 yards and two touchdowns for Florida State, which lost its 11th straight road game.
Kamari Moulton ran for a career-high 208 yards and two touchdowns as No. 20 Iowa beat Washington 41-24 on Friday night at Husky Stadium in Seattle. Jeremy Hecklinski, starting for injured Hank Brown, was 14 of 19 for 202 yards and three touchdowns. Iowa led 27-0 at halftime and finished with six sacks and nine tackles for loss while holding Washington to minus-3 yards rushing. Demond Williams Jr. left with an injury, and Elijah Brown came off the bench to throw for 251 yards and three touchdowns for the Huskies, who fell to 3-3.
Bear Bachmeier threw for 329 yards and two touchdowns and ran for a career-best 109 yards as No. 8 BYU beat Iowa State 24-10 on Friday night at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo, Utah. Bachmeier's 75-yard touchdown pass to Legend Glasker in the third quarter pushed the lead to 21-3. BYU held Iowa State to 49 yards before halftime and improved to 5-0 and 3-0 in the Big 12. Jaylen Raynor passed for 98 yards and a touchdown for the Cyclones.
Erik Sandvik made a 21-yard field goal in overtime as Wyoming beat San Jose State 16-13 on Friday night at CEFCU Stadium in San Jose, California. Tyler Hughes tied the game at 13-all with an 8-yard touchdown pass to Jake Wilson with 6:25 left in the fourth quarter after an 18-play, 75-yard drive. Wyoming snapped an eight-game road losing streak and won on the road in the series for the first time since 1996. Luke Weaver was 26 of 38 for 251 yards for the Spartans.
Saturday brings Week 6 of the FBS season with the Red River Rivalry as No. 1 Texas meets Oklahoma at the Cotton Bowl at 3:30 p.m. Eastern on ABC. No. 2 Georgia plays at No. 6 Alabama at 7:30 p.m. Eastern on ABC. No. 7 Indiana visits Nebraska at noon Eastern on Fox, and Texas A&M plays at No. 14 Missouri at noon Eastern on ABC. The NFL returns Sunday with Philadelphia at Jacksonville in London at 9:30 a.m. Eastern on NFL Network, followed by 13 games across the afternoon and primetime windows.
